About this artwork

This painting demonstrates how cancer, although hidden in the shadows, takes over the life of the patient as it works its way into their everyday reality. My cast shadow steps out and begins to merge onto my figure, absorbing me into its atmosphere. The surreal scene down a tilted hallway seems to add an unease to my figure as I attempt to balance myself on the thin metal crutches.
