after burn

About this artwork

In my painting, "after burn", I recreate the memory of my burned shoulder and its peeling skin. My flesh is painted to feel hot and tender. A white stripe is prevalent amongst the red flesh meant to represent the swimsuit strap; it is all that is left untouched by the harsh sun’s rays. The top of my shoulder has begun to bubble and peel leaving the blisters of my now dead skin and exposing the rawness underneath.
