A simple puzzle piece from my kindergarten classroom became something unexpected when I turned it over—the shape looked like a keyhole. A keyhole to what? A very old door, layered with years of peeling wallpaper and history. Layer upon layer, each one holding the possibility of memories, stories, and lives that came before.
