The Gate
$350

This piece began with a small pour that I felt needed to become part of something more. Within the colors, I saw the suggestion of a mystical female figure, her hand extended in what felt almost like a farewell—or a kiss blown into the air. I began building around her with collected treasures and found objects, allowing the piece to evolve intuitively. A small photograph taken by my father during his time in the Navy seemed to belong among the layers. I wanted to preserve the handwritten note on the back, so I intentionally attached only one corner of the photograph, leaving another corner lifted. The viewer is invited to look behind it and discover the small message hidden beneath. When I came across the words Vanishing Visitors, I knew they belonged. The title seemed to capture the feeling of fleeting figures, memories, and moments that appear, touch us, and then quietly disappear.
