Aziza Nō 1

About this artwork

This is the first piece in my Aziza series, a reimagining of the mystical forest spirits from West African mythology—known to offer guidance, wisdom, and protection. Aziza Nō 1 is a reworked version of my original African Wood Creature illustration, now infused with deeper symbolism and organic energy. The head is inspired by the bold shape of my African Mask Alocasia plant—connecting the spiritual to the botanical, the mythic to the material. This piece is rooted in the folklore of what is now Benin and speaks to the quiet power of nature, transformation, and ancestral presence.
