The journey of friendship, harmony and wonder is at the heart of Rae Wilson’s artwork. Wilson’s art reflects her own artistic journey, from taking her first oil painting classes at age 10 to rediscovering her passion for painting and portraiture after college. "This piece includes a handful of really amazing people that have been alongside my journey from Illinois to Arizona," Wilson said. "Each of the birds represents differences in culture and social norms. The birds resting on the heads of my friends act as a symbol of our ability to live in harmony with one another." Wilson has worked on collaborative public art projects in Chicago and has been part of Phoenix’s art scene for the past four years.
