The work presented in my Luminance Series began in early 2021 after many months isolating due to the pandemic. During that time, it caused me to slow down even further and become even more comfortable with the simple things. Each morning during the walk with our dog, I began to see a different light and an idea started to unfold as I began to shoot the first few images. The process became my meditation, representing and exploring the inner spiritual journey of moving through darkness to light, with challenges, roadblocks and awakening moments along the way. Utilizing multiple exposures became a path into ephemeral images of light and luminosity seemingly passing through time and space. The Luminance Series is produced as Gesso Prints. By using and printing on vellum a layer of translucency is created, when it is backed with gesso it creates another layer of luminance. Thus, enhancing the visual experience of light glowing from within, in each of us.
