Valerie Navarrete

Valerie Navarrete is a multimedia artist whose work explores the entanglement between the body, the ego, and the environment. She graduated from Yale University in 2021 with dual bachelor’s degrees in painting and molecular biology. She later received her MA in Global Arts and Culture from the Rhode Island School of Design, where her research examined the transmission of colonial trauma at the U.S.–Mexico border through epigenetics and weaving. Valerie currently teaches art to hospitalized children through Young Arts Arizona, instructs a drawing course at Estrella Mountain Community College, and works as a gallery associate at Lisa Sette Gallery. In her free time, she enjoys playing guitar, reading, and listening to music with her pet cat, Evie.
