Myja Lark

Myja is an artist, author, and keeper of stories that remember. Her work lives at the intersection of ancestry and imagination, where locs become landscapes, trees become memory, and everyday people become monuments. She creates to honor where we come from and to offer a place of rest for where we are going. Through painting, printmaking, and writing, Myja explores the beauty, weight, and wonder of being Black and the quiet ways we return home to ourselves. Myja has built a growing body of work that includes the Nappy Roots book and art series, large-scale portraits, and immersive community experiences. Whether on canvas, on a page, or in a room full of people, her intention is always the same: to tell the truth with tenderness, to make beauty accessible, and to leave the world a little more whole than she found it.
