New painter since Covid lockdown! When it was announced we were going into lockdown in 2020, I went to the art store and loaded up on art supplies to try something new. With a passion for music and a trip down a rabbit hole of 90's music, my muse for the next year became Jay Kay, the lead singer of the British band Jamiroquai, a 90's staple in England and famous in most of the world, less so in the USA. These paintings were an attempt to translate an artist's brilliant performance onto a two dimensional canvas. From there, my interest developed further in portraiture and technical knowledge, which led me to study in FLorence, Italy to get some classical/traditional chops to incorporate into a contemporary style!
