Elisabeth Geel

Elisabeth Geel was born in the Netherlands in 1956 and has lived for over thirty years in Italy. She is both a visual and a musical artist, and is self-taught in both disciplines. She started her career as a graphic designer and illustrator for children’s educational books and advertising. Today she specializes in fine art oil painting, watercolor, and mixed media, and is strongly influenced by Surrealism. Music is a recurring motive in her work, which vibrates with color, humor, and subtle provocations. Elisabeth is currently involved in the creation of a series of surrealist self-portraits that examine her experience as a musical artist, besides letting her fantasy roam free in order to communicate whatever arises from her subconscious mind. Elisabeth lives and works in Tucson, Arizona, and exhibits her work regularly at the Contreras Gallery, the Untitled Gallery, and at Wilhelm Family Vineyards.
