About the artist

Earl Terry is a DeafBlind curator, cultural organizer, educator, and arts advocate based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the founder and curator of the Melanated Deaf Visual Arts Project (MDVAP), an initiative dedicated to increasing visibility, access, and opportunities for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other historically marginalized Deaf, DeafBlind, and DeafDisabled artists.

Through exhibitions, community programs, artist conversations, workshops, and cultural events, Earl creates spaces where Deaf artists can share their work, stories, identities, and lived experiences on their own terms. His curatorial practice centers representation, cultural preservation, accessibility, and community connection.

Through MDVAP, Earl is developing new opportunities for Deaf artists in Arizona and beyond while building stronger connections between Deaf communities, artists, arts organizations, and the broader public.
