About the artist
Visual Artist, Beth Courtright Detwiler (bcdetwiler) is a Contemporary Visionary whose work is rooted in symbolic narratives and personalized iconography. She works in a variety of colorful mediums - oil painting, chalkpastel, pen & ink, ceramics, and the emerging artform of "masking tape art." Her influences come from nature, as well as ancient art and modern art eras. Beth has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio State University and a Masters of Ed with certification in Visual Arts and Secondary Ed. She spent her formative years as a painter, published cartoonist, & illustrator in Baltimore, Maryland. Beth has a love for the natural beauty of the High Desert region in the Verde Valley of Northern Arizona. She lives in the town of Cottonwood, and has a Studio Gallery and Workshop in the historic ghost town & artist colony of Jerome, Arizona.
