About the artist
Brad Armstrong
Based in Phoenix Arizona, photographer Brad Armstrong is a native of New York. At the age of 19, he left New York to further his independence and education in Arizona. Brad attended Northern Arizona University where he studied photography and journalism. Brad’s award-winning photography career began in 1989 as a photojournalist in Scottsdale Arizona, and most recently worked as a director of photography for The East Valley Tribune covering the greater Phoenix Metro area. In 1999, the National Press Photographers Association honored Brad with the National Humanitarian Award for saving the life of a child who was struck by a moving vehicle. He has won Best of the West and Arizona Picture of the Year twice. Brad’s work has been published in newspapers and magazines and was featured in an HBO documentary on the late Senator Barry Goldwater “Mr. Conservative”. His photography is held in private collections the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution Washington D.C. and has been exhibited in Phoenix and Scottsdale galleries. Brad served as an Adjunct instructor teaching photojournalism 451 as an adjunct instructor at the Arizona State Universities Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications. January of 2009, Brad started Brad Armstrong Photography. His commercial and editorial work was based on helping businesses communicate there corporate mission through personalized photography. Brad has lived in the Valley since 1983 and is currently retired but continues to work on personal projects ranging from landscapes of all kinds, street and portraiture. Brad uses multiple formats including digital, film, 35mm, medium format, large format 8X10 analog photography.
