About the artist
Matti Baine
Preferring to paint with a unique medium of walnut pigment which was used by the old masters. You may recognize the tone of the pigment in works such as the Vitruvian Man by Da Vinci as well as Ancient Maps. With a love for the ancient, she studied the printing technique, Intaglio Etchings, at Amsterdam Graphics Atelier. Much of her inspiration stems from 13 years of traveling with Circus Flora, a European style, artistic troupe of theater and circus performers where she filled the roles of Scenic Designer, Actress, and Stage Manager.4th Generation Native to Arizona, she painted as early as 9 years of age with her Great Grandmother. You will see influence of the Wild West, Vaudeville Theater and Circus in her art. In line with her passion for the old world, recreating Ancient Maps are also in her repertoire.
