About the artist
Ashton Hall
Ashton Hall is an Oil Pastel Artist born and raised in La Crosse, Wisconsin. A recent transplant, she moved to Arizona 3 years ago. Utilizing her consistent passion to create, Arizona’s desert landscape inspired new advances in her work. Painting engaging environments, reflecting her personal perspectives and growth, she expresses herself through Oil Pastel and Soft Pastel mediums. Pastels hold the range she needs to convey her messages, an immediate and intuitive medium aiding Ashton’s layering technique and style. Currently, Ms. Hall is exploring ways to engage the vibrant Arts & Culture scene in Arizona as well as continue exhibiting across the Midwest. Previous accomplishments include; independent curator of A.E.H, Pop-Up Studio Gallery and muralist. She began her curatorial career at the Historic Horlock house in Navasota, Texas, as an artist-in-residence in the 2016 fall cycle. Coordinating themed exhibits at Rochester Civic Theatre in Minnesota in 2019, then partnering with with the non-profit Downtown Main St. Inc to help create, organize, paint with other artists, La Crosse Wisconsin’s very first mural alley way, “500 Main Street murals.” Artist Statement My creative process begins with journaling and sketching—tools for capturing the fleeting thoughts and emotions that arise from everyday life. As an Artist, my work is a journey through memory and emotion, shaped by the echoes of my childhood and the evolving complexities of motherhood. Influenced by the raw, expressive Oil strokes, I replicate my personal experiences and reflections into every stroke. Oil Pastel painting is my personal means of introspection and self soothing, and discovery.
