About the artist
Theresa Tarara
Theresa Tarara is a fine art photographer living in the desert southwest. She studied photography at The University of Arizona and earned a BFA with honors from Arizona State University. Her photographs have been exhibited throughout the U.S. at venues including Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester MA; Southeast Center for Photography, Greenville, SC; Minneapolis Photo Center, Minneapolis, MN. Terry often gravitates toward still life and landscape, which she photographs with 35mm and medium-format film, using antique cameras to reference an aesthetic of times past. She often employs alternative processes such as gum bichromate and cyanotype to show in her work the hand of the artist. Terry photographs flowers, makes digital negatives from antique and found photos, adds artifacts in Photoshop, and sometimes sprinkles flower petals and leaves onto the paper’s surface before exposure to ultraviolet light. She sees her images as feelings made tangible, like a map in the wilderness, giving her the tools to move imagination into art.
